We value small businesses immensely, so we are taking the time to acknowledge small businesses during National Small Business Week.
Did you know that more than 50 percent of Americans own or work for a small business? And that small businesses create approximately two out of every three new jobs in the US each year?
National Small Business Week has been celebrated for more than 50 years. It runs from Sunday, May 5 to Sunday, May 11 and there’s a lot to celebrate.
As well as playing a major role in the economy, small businesses also greatly benefit the local community. You’ll often see the name of a small, local, business on the shirts of a school soccer team, staff helping out at the local animal shelter, or collecting and donating items for the food pantry. And there’s more. Small business owners and entrepreneurs are often called on to give speeches or presentations at local schools or community colleges to share their story and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Small businesses support fellow small businesses, we see that a lot in our communities and through our various memberships. Small businesses connect with their community, vendors/suppliers, and customers. It is great to walk into a local bakery, hair salon, or café and be greeted by name to feel welcome and appreciated.
Among other things, small businesses create an opportunity for innovation and healthy competition, which is always a good thing. A diverse marketplace is great for the local economy and for the community.
At Warren-Boynton State Bank we’re extremely proud of our roots, our community, and the people and businesses we work with every day. So, once again, thank you, small business owners, for always going above and beyond, for providing jobs for our families and friends, and for generously giving back to our community.
